 | Als ich die CD 5am von Joseph Parsons aus Philadelphia zum erstenmal anhörte, wußte ich zuerst nicht so recht, was ich dazu sagen sollte. Nach dem ca. zehnten Durchlauf wußte ich es: ich hatte eine der interessantesten Singer-Songwriter-CDs seit langem in den Händen. Der erste Song wie Jimmy Page/Robert Plant, der zweite wie Kevin Salem, der dritte wie - keine Ahnung, aber mit soooo viel Melodie, und da entschloß ich, den Jungen unter Vertrag zu nehmen. Jungen - na ja, 26 ist er auch schon... Das Album und die Touren, solo sowie mit Band, liefen beachtlich gut, der Grundstein war gelegt.
Und nun hat Joseph Parsons sein neues Album im Kasten, schlicht Joseph Parsons betitelt. Am 23.8. erscheint es und enthält 10 weitere Songperlen in vielfachen Schattierungen. Der "Junge" kann mal ein richtig "Großer" werden! |
 | When I listened to 5am, Joseph Parsons' second album, for the first time, I didn't know what to think about it. After the tenth spin I realized: I had one of the most interesting singer-songwriter-CDs for a long time in my hands! The opener "5am" like Jimmy Page/Robert Plant, the second song, "200 Miles", with hard-edged guitars, the third like - I don't know, but with such a great melody, and then I decided to sign this guy from Philadelphia. Both the album and the tours went really good, the platform was built. While many decry the lack of artist development in the corporate charged world of contemporary music, Parsons has steadfastly followed his own muse and found his audience outside the mainstream.
And now Joseph Parsons returns with his self-titled new album. It contains another 10 great musical pearls of different sounds. Although lyrically rooted in the 1970s singer-songwriter poetic style, he ups the ante by laying his emotions bare in stark, honest communication. |
