 | Alive In Paris - nur ein weiteres Live-Album des US-amerikanischen Singer/Songwriters ELLIOTT MURPHY mit Wohnsitz in Paris? Mitnichten - zunächst handelt es sich eine Kombination aus Live-CD und-DVD, zum anderen war der Anlass der auf Ton- und Bildträger festgehaltenen Show nicht alltäglich. Murphy erklärt dazu: "Es war das Allerletzte, was ich erwartet hätte, als ich vor fast 20 Jahren nach Frankreich zog - dass meine Karriere mit einer wunderbaren Ausstellung in dem herrlichen Rathaus-Gebäude des 6. Arrondisements nahe St. Germain gefeiert werden würde. Gilles Pidard von der University 7 sammelte, unterstützt von meiner Frau Francoise Viallon-Murphy und meinem inoffiziellen Archivar Franck Dumaine, hunderte von Fotos, Posters, Albumcovers, Notizen und alles mögliche, das man sich nur vorstellen kann, um eine wahrlich umfassende Ausstellung meiner Karriere zusammenzustellen." Diese besagte Ausstellung lief über fast drei Wochen und hatte hunderte von Besucher aus der ganzen Welt. "Sogar ich erfuhr noch neue Dinge über mich," sagt Murphy dazu grinsend.
Die "Last Of The Rock Stars"-Ausstellung wurde noch getoppt von einem Konzert im Salles de Fete der Stadthalle am 26.09.2008. 800 Besucher kamen zu dieser Show mit Elliott Murphy, Olivier Durand und den Normandy All Stars (Alan Fatras - Cajon, Backing Vocals und Laurent Pardo - Bass, Backing Vocals). Nach fast nunmehr 40 Jahren unterwegs auf den Live-Bühnen dieser Welt scheint Murphy seine perfekte Begleitung gefunden zu haben. Sein langjähriger Partner Olivier Durand ist eh nicht mehr wegzudenken, so sehr bilden die beiden an ihren akustischen Gitarren eine unglaubliche Einheit, und durch die Ryhthm Section gerät die Live-Performance des Quartetts zu einer Rock-Show der Sonderklasse, die sogar auf eine ansonsten unumgängliche E-Gitarre verzichten kann, mehr als ungewöhnlich bei einer Rock-Band.
Der Auftritt wurde sowohl audio- als auch videotechnisch festgehalten. Murphy erklärt: "The only problem was that the balance of the audio was flawed but luckily two of my fans - Xavier and Pierre - came to the rescue. They had recorded the complete concert themselves and their recordings were absolutely perfect! We put it all together with the help of Julius and Mikael in Le Havre and François in Paris and I honestly can say that Alive In Paris is a fine representation of the excitement both fans and me and my musicians feel each of the one hundred plus nights we hit the stage every year. But this night, in my adopted hometown of Paris was truly an evening that touched my heart and that I will never forget. And I proud to say that I am ALIVE IN PARIS!
17 Songs enthielt die fulminante Show, bei der alle Musiker zur Hochform aufliefen, darunter Murphy-Klassiker wie "Sonny", "Green River", Last Of The Rock Stars", "On Elvis Presley's Birthday", "Come On Louann" oder "Diamonds By The Yard", neue Stücke ("Black Crow", "Doctor Of Mercy") sowie eine atemberaubende Version des Doors-Meilensteins "L.A. Woman".

 | ELLIOTT MURPHY about his new live album Alive In Paris: "It was the last thing I expected when I moved to France nearly 20 years ago - that my career would be celebrated in a wonderful exhibition at the beautiful town hall of the 6th Arrondisement near Boulevard St. Germain on the left bank of Paris.
Gilles Pidard from Paris University 7, along with the help of my wife Françoise Viallon-Murphy and my unofficial archivist Franck Dumaine, managed to pull out hundreds of photos, posters, album covers, writings and everything else you can imagine to put together a truly captivating show. The exhibition ran for nearly three weeks and had hundreds of visitors from all over the world. Even I learned some things about myself.
The Last of the Rock Stars expo was topped with a concert in the Salles de Fete of the town hall on 26 September 2008.
